Reading: Joel 1-3
My Verse: 2:12 "Therefore, also now, says the Lord, turn and keep on coming to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning [until every hindrance is removed and the broken fellowhip is restored]."
Wow! This little book of Joel is not so very little! Joel speaks of the apocolyptic horror of the locusts - God's judgement in chapter one. He speaks of the pouring out of God's Holy Spirit - "I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. . . " (2:28) He speaks of that day when man no longer can choose. "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!" (3:14) This is the valley where only God makes decisions!
But, mostly, Joel speaks of "The Day of the Lord!" And of God's constant plea with mankind because - "For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible, and who can endure it?"
God, You plea with us to "rend out hearts, not just our garments" (2:13) You want true repentance, not just a going through the motions.
Oh, Lord, my daily life should reflect this fact. "Alas, for the day! For the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destructive tempest from the Almighty will it come." (1:15) You are coming - all of scripture points to this fact! I pray, Lord, for loved ones. I pray they repent and be saved. "And whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered and saved. . . " (2:32)
My God is mighty to save! Thank You, Lord, for saving me!
Ditat Deus - God Enriches!
