Satan, The Defeated Accuser!

Reading:  Revelation 12
My Verse:  "And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God" (12:10).

How Revelation reveals the true nature of Satan.  Oh, LORD God, You have defeated him long ago.  Jesus, Your death on the cross was the final victory, as You stated, "It is finished." (John 19:30) All else is simply the denouement, the final resolution of these matters.  Satan, our accuser, faces certain and final defeat.

"Now war arose in heaven, "Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon.  And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.  And the great dragon was thrown down, "that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world - "he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him" (12:7-9).

Yes, the devil is our accuser before You, Lord God, as he did even with Job. "Then Satan answered the Lord, Does Job fear God for nothing?  Have You not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side?  You have conferred prosperity and happiness upon him in the work of his hands and his possessions have increased in the land.  but put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face" (Job 1:9-11).  Of course we know the outcome of this story.  Job did go through tremendous trials but remained steadfast through all, even after losing all that he had, even his health.  What a wonderful story for us, Your followers to be able to read and meditate upon.

We are only able to stay steadfast with Your enabling, we must ever cry out to You to hold us, to keep us.  Satan tries so hard to first keep us from submitting to You, to repenting of our sins and asking You to be our Lord.  Then after we do submit to You, he is constantly trying to keep us defeated in our walk.  Oh, LORD God, what a glorious day that will be when he is no longer able to accuse us.

Help me to be ever mindful of the fact that You, Lord Jesus,  have already defeated him.  I can live a life of victory through You and Your finished work upon the cross.  And because You will keep me until that day, I do not need to fret.  "And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6).

"Who is like You among the gods, O LORD? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders? (Exodus 15:11)

LORD God, You are the conquerer. And I can be a conquerer through You and what You have done for me.  "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8:37).  I thank You and praise You for loving me, for saving me, for keeping me!
