Do Not Tamper With God's Word!

Reading:  Deuteronomy 2 - 4
My Verse:  "You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you" (4:2).

How I need to remember this command.  How vital it is to my walk with You, LORD God!  For You are sufficient unto all my needs!  You have preserved Your Word to teach me, to guide me, to grow me and to draw me ever closer to You! I do not need to look elsewhere for anything - You are all sufficient!

In the prior verse You told the Israelites that they were to obey the "statutes and rules" that You provided them.  You told them that only then would they be able to "live, and go in and take possession of the land." Their taking of the land was not dependent on their military strength or their military prowess.  No, it was dependent on their obeying You.  This speaks directly to me and to all Christians in the world today.

We do not need money, strength, intelligence, or connections to succeed.  All those things come if we obey and follow You.

"But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Cor. 12:9).

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (Matthew 6:33).

We do not need any new or special revelation.  We do not need some special indwelling of the spirit. You, LORD God indwell us when we ask You into our lives.  We do not need to be saying special prayers at particular times.  We do not need to be doing anything under our own power to get closer to You.  We must simply believe Your Word.  You bring us to You!  You alone are our salvation.

The Bible is complete and whole.

"Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you and you be found a liar" (Proverbs 30:6).

"I know that everything God does is final.  Nothing can be added to it or taken from it.  God's purpose is that people should fear him" (Ecclesiastes 3:14).

"I warn everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book; if anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book" (Revelation 22:18).

Oh, LORD God, how I need to be vigilant in my pursuit of Your Truth.  Everything I read, everything I hear needs to be filtered through Your Word before I can accept it.  Help me in this.  Help me to be discerning.

Thank You, for making it so very clear how we are to deal with Your Word. We are not to add to it or take away from it.  It is all sufficient. We need only read it and heed it!

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near" (Revelation 1:3).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xPzTSpbYmk
