Return Faithless Children!

Reading:  Jeremiah 3, 4
My Verse:  "Return, Oh faithless children,
                         says the LORD,
                    for I am the LORD and Master and Husband
                         to you,
                    and I will take you one from a city
                    and two from a tribal family -
                    and bring you to Zion" (Jeremiah 3:14).

Because of Who You are, LORD God, You will not give up on us until all possibilities have been searched out to bring us to You!  Because You are love and goodness You are constantly reaching out to us to bring us to that same love and goodness.  Thank You, LORD God for pursuing me . . .

Your story of how You pursued the Israelites is a most beautiful illustration of how You seek us out.  We in our messiness, rebellion and inability to realize Your goodness cannot defeat or stop You, LORD God - You and Your purpose or grace.

Verse 19 again tells us how we cause our own misery

     'Your ways and your deeds
           have brought this upon you.
     This is your doom, and it is bitter;
           it has reached your very heart" (Jeremiah 4:18).

You love cries out to us . . .

"O Jerusalem, wash your heart from evil,
      that you may be saved . . ." (Jeremiah 4:14

"I am merciful, declares the LORD;
 I will not be angry forever.
 Only acknowledge your guilt,
 That you rebelled against the LORD your God" (Jeremiah 3:12,13).

"Return, Oh faithless sons;
     I will heal your faithlessness" (Jeremiah 3:22).

All else here on this earth, all other pursuits are a delusion.

"Truly the hills are a delusion,
     the orgies on the mountains" (Jeremiah 4:23).

They are a chasing after the wind, totally unattainable!  This was the only sad conclusion Solomon could come to after devoting his wealth and God-gifted wisdom to the pursuit of earthly sensual pleasures.

"I have seen all the things that are done under the sun,
     all of them are meaningless,
     a chasing after the wind" (Ecclesiastes 1:14)

As Easter approaches I am constantly reminded of the Love You have for me.  A love that passes all understanding!

My prayer for all who are searching for love and peace.

"For this reason I bow my knees  before the Father,
     from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
     that according to the riches of His glory
     He may grant you to be strengthened with power
        through His Spirit in your inner being,
    so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith -
    that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
    may have strength to comprehend with all the saints
      what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
      and know the love of Christ
      that surpasses knowledge,
      that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:14-19).

Ditat Deus - God Enriches!
