Reading: Isaiah 54
My Verse: "No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed,
and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in
judgment.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD
and their vindication from me, declares the LORD" (Isaiah 54:17).
What a promise. Even though there are times when it seems our enemy has the upper hand, we need to remember that in the end, You LORD God will always have the victory. And all who belong to You share in that victory! You may allow things to happen to us but always these are for Your good purposes and we can count on that. You love us and protect us from anything that does not better us. You are my Shepard! "The LORD is my Shephard!" (Psalm 23:1).
"And Moses said to the people, 'Do not be afraid.
Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD,
which He will accomplish for you today.
For the Egyptians whom you see today,
you shall see again no more forever.
The LORD will fight for you,
and you shall hold your peace"
(Exodus 14:13-14).
Psalm 91 is that most beautiful psalm that we can all go to in times of need!
"A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
No evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
For He will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone (Psalm 91:7, 10 - 12).
This does not mean we are exempt from all harm, only that You LORD will not allow anything to happen to us that is not within Your purposes. Paul reminds us of this.
"We are hard pressed on every side,
yet not crushed;
We are perplexed,
but not in despair;
persecuted,
but not forsaken;
struck down,
but not destroyed."(2 Corinthians 4:8-9)
I love the imagery in Nahum 1:7,8
"The LORD is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
He knows those who take refuge in Him.
But with an overflowing flood
He will make a complete end of the adversaries,
and will pursue His enemies into darkness"
This we can count on! Anyone that tries to harm us will pay, because our enemies are Your enemies and You, LORD God will pursue them "into darkness".
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me" (Psalm 23:4).
With Your rod, You keep off all that may harm me beyond Your purposes. With Your staff, You guide me along the path You would have me to travel on! Thank You, for this most blessed assurance! Thank You for reminding me that You, Lord God are my protector!
"He is a very present help in time of trouble" (Psalm 46:1).
