The Sun Will Be No More . . .

Reading:  Isaiah 60
My Verse:  "The sun shall be no more
                          your light by day,
                     nor for brightness shall the moon
                          give you light;
                     but the LORD will by your everlasting light,
                          and your God will be your glory" (Isaiah 60:19).

This really is a glorious passage.  Isaiah is speaking of the final glorious coming of You, LORD God! He is speaking of how we(believers) shall all be brought together before You.  He speaks here of how You shall be all the light we shall ever need!  And yet, those words "the sun shall be no more . . ." are so final.  They make me anxious for the many who still deny You, as LORD.

I just read an article by a Dr. Jason Lisle titled, "How Do We Know That the Bible Is True?"  In it he builds an argument/basis for how we can know this, that the Bible is truth.  Basically it comes down to the fact that we need to  presuppose the Bible to be truth in order to have a basis to prove anything at all!

"The truth of the Bible is obvious to anyone willing to fairly investigate it.  The Bible is uniquely self-consistent and extraordinarily authentic.  It has changed the lives of millions of people who have placed their faith in Christ.  It has been confirmed countless times by archaeology and other sciences.  It possesses divine insight into the nature of the universe and has made correct predictions about distant future events with perfect accuracy.  When Christians read the Bible, they cannot help but recognize the voice of their Creator.  The Bible claims to be the Word of God, and it demonstrates this claim by making knowledge possible.  It is the standard of standards.  The proof of the Bible is that unless its truth is presupposed, we couldn't prove anything at all."

I just think that is an amazing statement.

I have also been reading Oswald Chambers devotional "My Utmost For His Highest."  In my most recent reading he speaks of our need to truly believe that Jesus is Who he says he is.  We basically shortchange ourselves because we don't fully commit, we hold back, especially when we are in dire straits or in need of something but will not ask our LORD because we don't see Him as being truly capable of meeting our every need.

"He will do it for you if you ask him.  But, you have to come to the place where you believe He is the Almighty . . ."

There is so much out there that proves You are Who You say You are LORD God!  So much in the natural world alone that proves the Bible, Your Word as absolute truth.  So when I read it, when I read statements like "the sun shall be no more . . ." I take it to heart.  To me it is truth and this will come to pass.

And so my anxiety, anxiety for loved ones.  Help me LORD God to be faithful in prayer for them.  Help me to allow You to shine through my life that it might be a witness of You and Your goodness - of Your reality and almighty power over all that is.  I want to look gloriously forward!

"Your sun shall no more go down,
     nor your moon withdraw itself;
  for the LORD will be your everlasting light,
     and your days of mourning shall be ended" (Isaiah 60:20).
