Reading: Isaiah 65, 66 Psalm 121
My Verse: 65:17 "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth. And the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind."
So much energy is put into 'saving our planet'! Save the owls! Save the moth! Save the whales! I appreciate that we, humans, have been horribly deficient in the way we have used and abused the resources of this wonderful creation that God provided for our use. I appreciate that it is abominable that we have squandered resources to the point of destroying whole species of creatures. Even now I see those abuses going on and cringe at it. And yet . . . "I create new heavens and a new earth." All that is now will be no more.
We do need to be prudent in how we use our resources. We are never to be wasteful or abusive in anything that we do. Lord, You tell us "Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily as something done for the Lord and not for men." (Colossians 3:23) You also tell us to live excellent lives before the world. (I Peter 2:13-17)
So what do I take from this? Lord, I realize that You are the Author of life. You give and take as you deem best. You note the fall of each of Your living creatures. I, as Your child, can read this verse and find peace in it. While this life that You have given us is important and we are to live it to the fullest, to the best of our abilities - it is temporary. So, yes, it calms me. Watching my mother die was hard but this calms me about what she had to experience. You tell us "former things shall not be remembered". Thank you.
Ditat Deus - God Enriches!
