Great and Might Things!

Reading:  Jeremiah 33 - 37
My Verse:  "Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know."

Oh, Lord, this verse tells me that You want so much to grow us, to answer our deepest questions. You want us to live rich and abundant lives.  "I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance." (John 10:10)  I am intrigued by the "fenced in and hidden" things You wish us to know.


These chapters illustrate Your deep longing for the people Israel.  You wanted so much to be in fellowship with them.  "It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do to them, so that each one may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin." (36:3)  Sadly they refused and had to be punished.  So it is with us.  You call us.  And yet, "All like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way..." (Isaiah 53:6)

Easter is coming.  Lord, I pray that as we celebrate this day - this day of Your victory over sin and death, we would keep our eyes focused on You and what You have done for us.  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) I pray that we repent of our sins and seek after Your riches.

Oh, to delve into Your Word, to seek after those "great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden".
