Reading: Matthew 6
My Verse: "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (v. 21)
This has to be one of my favorite passages of the Bible! It speaks so directly to me. "Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy about your life . . ." (v.25) I do that - before I realize it I am fretting about one thing or another!
Here You tell me to look at the birds - "they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns and yet Your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?" (v. 26)
You tell me to "consider the lilies . . . even Solomon in all his magnificence was not arrayed like one of them." (v. 29)
You tell me "And who of you by worrying can add one unit of measure to his stature or to the span of his life?" (v. 27)
I am learning -slowly, but thanks to You I am learning "My times are in Your hands . . . " (Psalm 31:15)
I like nice things. I am learning that its okay - I just don't need all the nice things that I like! "Do not gather up and store for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust and worm consume and destroy, and where thieves break through and steal." (v. 19)
I want my treasures to be in You, Lord! So today I will "look at the birds" and "consider the lilies" and think about what You are teaching me through Your handiwork.
Ditat Deus - God Enriches!
