Fulfilled Prophecy

Reading:  Matthew 1, 2
My Verse:  (1:22)  "All this took place that it might be fulfilled which the Lord had spoken through the prophet."

These two chapters are tightly packed with the amazingly beautiful story of Jesus.  The geneology sets the stage for the arrival of our Lord Jesus, the fulfillment of some incredibly detailed prophecy in the Old Testament.  Geneology is an amazing thing - because it speaks to all the events that must occur at the correct when and where before the predicted event occurs.  It is nothing less than marvelous and miraculous!

"And we have the prophetic word [made] firmer still.  You will do well to pay close attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dismal place, until the day breaks through [the gloom] and the Morning Star rises (comes into being) in your hearts.  [Yet] first [you must] understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is [a matter] of any personal or private or special interpretation.  For no prophecy ever originated because some man willed it, but men spoke from God who were borne along by the Holy Spirit." (II Peter 1:19-21)

Yes, we do well indeed to pay attention to Your word, Lord.  Because of all the fulfilled prophecy of the Old Testament we can look forward confidently and hopefully to Your second coming which is spoken of and prophesied throughout Your Word. 

"Behold, I am coming soon, . . .  "
"I am the Alpha and the Omega . . . "  (Revelation 22:12,13)
